|Ain't no ALLY in Allied bank

Don't bother banking at ALLIED BANK BETTER LIVING branch. They'll give you a hard time when you open an account. It was the first time that I was asked for a referral letter. In fairness, I was informed of that requirement by the bank manager herself prior to my visit. She told me the reson behind it, but I thought that it's a case to case basis. I went there with all the needed requirements except for that stupid referral letter. I mentioned the name of my colleague's father since was told that they maintain an account there. I really got dismayed because she was firm that I should get a referral. Do I look like I have thousands of dollars stashed overseas, and will be transferred to that account if ever? Well, thanks, if I gave her that impression. Or, is it possible that I'm funding terrorrists? I don't think so! |
So, off I went to BPI Family just across that pesky Allied bank. BPI has this image that they're so high and mighty. In fairness to the Ayalas, yes, they're reputable, but the employees also think that they're an Ayala. I won't elaborate much, but my brief discussion with the 40+ (I think) female employee amde me feel that I shouldn't contribute to the riches of the Ayalas. My search continued...
Third stop was at UCPB where a pleasant looking chinese mestiza employee welcomed me pleasantly. I asked for the requirements and immediately felt at home. The branch was small and all, but the lady knew how to treat her clients. Hats off to you, miss. I laud you for your good customer service skills. I'm just sorry that we might not do business just yet, because your bank has high maintaining balance. I'm not closing my doors, though. Just you wait for BDO to make a wrong move, and I'll transfer my account to you.
I think it's time that bank employees be given more training on courtesy and customer service. Banks need depositors, especially at this trying times. Why do I feel that now, it's the other way around,. That these greedy institutions make us feel that we need them more than they need us. I rest my case.
Till next time.
